Mr. Hunt began studying karate in 1964 while in undergraduate school in Pennsylvania. He ultimately received Black Belt rank in Shotokan, Wado Ryu, and Shito Ryu, as well as Okinawan kobudo. He has studied Shotokan with Dan Ivan, Goju Ryu with Lee Gray, Wado Ryu with Masaru Shintani and Shi-To Ryu and Kobudo with Fumio Demura and is a member of Demura Sensei’s Genbu-Kai. Mr. Hunt has been studying the techniques and history of karate his entire adult life and and travels throughout the United States for book signings and seminars on the history of karate and its applications. He is currently working on his second novel One Moon and is in the process of adapting his first novel The Art and the Way for film. Mr. Hunt’s screenplay, Bad Medicine, has been optioned as a theatrically released motion picture. Mr. Hunt holds a Master’s Degree in International Finance from the Thunderbird Graduate School of International Management in Glendale Arizona. He has worked as a high school and college teacher, movie stunt man, contractor, realtor, author, software provider and martial arts instructor.
